No Mediators Required

Priesthood of all believers

One of the basics of dealing with God’s voice, is understanding a concept that the Fathers of faith, the reformers fought for. In the middle ages people were taught by a backslidden church that they could not talk to God on their own, they could not hear God’s voice for themselves. They needed a Priest to interpret God’s voice for them. And then God revealed to Martin Luther and the reformers a doctrine called the Priesthood of all believers. What it simply means is that you don’t need a mediator between you and God apart from Jesus Christ. You don’t need the Pastor. You don’t need a Prophet. You don’t need somebody else to hear God’s voice for you. You know most of the charismatic people are beginning to behave like cults-they are always looking for a word from God and they are running from meeting to meeting saying what has God said to you about me. I can’t tell you how many people come to me saying Pastor what is God saying to you about me and I say he isn’t saying anything. We were never created to hear the voice of God second hand. We are all Priests, we can hear God for ourselves and whoever speaks God’s voice to you is primarily to confirm. But you have to hear God for yourself…so every Christian has a responsibility and has an anointing and has an ability to hear from God for himself.

Of course God will send other people to confirm. And if you ever deal with a Pastor, or a prophet who says when God wants to speak to you he will speak through me and any other voice that doesn’t speak through me is false, run away with your life. Every born again child of God is a Priest and because they are a Priest they hear God’s voice for themselves. All that Pastors do and all that a prophet will do is to just confirm what God is speaking to you. You need to have dealings with God for yourself. Prophetic people don’t be mediators between God and men. There is only one mediator between God and men, that’s the man Jesus Christ. Not even your Pastor needs to come between you and God. You need to hear God for yourself. Even if God spoke to me about you and I told you what God said, you still are responsible for hearing and discerning God’s voice in what I say. But you don’t have to do something simply because the Pastor said it, simply because a prophetic person said it, you need to hear God for yourself. Stop being controlled by prophetic people.

  1. Unstable in his ways is a man who runs a race based on a third party engagement with God. When challenges attend to one’s way there is nothing as feeble and undependable to lean on as another man’s word but when one has heard from God directly they are unmovable, reminds me of Caleb saying to Josh, you were there on that day when the Lord promised me Hebron.
